Hospital delirium is a real thing and he’s been affected here and there by it. This causes me great anxiety especially when he angrily tries to take off his wires, peel back the tape holding in the IV. It’s so pitiful hearing him plead for water but I can only swab his mouth or coffee,

Armando was moved out of ICU late last night. That was an adventure in itself.

The surgeon is holding off inserting the J Tube. He feels to try a stronger medication to possibly help him tolerate tube feeding better. If he continues to have issues, then the Dr is planning to insert a nose tube like the first one they tried (and gagged constantly with) but this time directing it down past the stomach and into the jejunum. He will then see if Armando  tolerates receiving the food there better instead of his stomach. If so, then he’ll go forward with the J Peg. If he can’t tolerate that, then the J Tube won’t even work and the Dr doesn’t want to put him through the risks involved with surgery if his stomach wouldn’t even handle it. 

We’ll be here at least for a few more days.

El delirio hospitalario es algo real y él se ha visto afectado aquí y allá por él. Esto me causa una gran ansiedad, especialmente cuando trata enojado de quitarse los cables, quitar la cinta que sostiene la vía intravenosa. Es tan lamentable escucharlo suplicar por agua, pero solo puedo frotarle la boca o café,

Armando fue trasladado de la UCI anoche tarde. Eso fue una aventura en sí misma.

El cirujano está retrasando la inserción del tubo J. Tiene ganas de probar un medicamento más fuerte que posiblemente le ayude a tolerar mejor la alimentación por sonda. Si continúa teniendo problemas, entonces el Dr. está planeando insertar un tubo nasal como el primero que probaron (y amordazados constantemente), pero esta vez dirigiéndolo hacia abajo más allá del estómago y hacia el yeyuno. Luego verá si Armando tolera recibir la comida allí mejor en lugar de su estómago. Si es así, entonces seguirá adelante con el J Peg. Si no puede tolerar eso, entonces el tubo J ni siquiera funcionará y el Dr. no quiere someterlo a los riesgos involucrados en la cirugía si su estómago ni siquiera lo manejara.

Estaremos aquí al menos unos días más.
