Wednesday, July 15, 2026 BIG UPDATE!

​So much has happened in the last few days it’s been hard to keep up. Since Armando has been eating so well by mouth, he was taken completely off of tube feedings after the doctor took a calorie count over the course of several days. The tubes are still in place and will need to stay in for at least a couple of weeks but we’ll see what the doctor says when he goes to his appointment at that time. He’s still having to eat very soft foods as before but he has a hearty appetite! 

Now for the biggest news! Armando was discharged from the hospital Monday night!  He was so excited to be able to come home, I thought any minute he’d get up and RUN out of that hospital! Since he’s barely able to walk yet, that wouldn’t have been feasible. But now he’s home. Because of delays with insurance, he will not be able to go to rehab as of yet but we both agree at this point that  outpatient rehab visits will best suit his needs whenever we’re finally approved. 

I can’t tell you how many times we were told how remarkably fast he has recovered, being able to do things that takes most stroke patients 6-12 months to be able to do. What a testimony of God’s grace and mercy and a witness that truly, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever and that He is a prayer answering God! We are so grateful for all your prayers! 

Now that Armando is home, realizing the magnitude of what has happened to him and adjusting is the most challenging part of this chapter. Continued prayer would be much appreciated, most specifically for Armando.

Han pasado tantas cosas en los últimos días que ha sido difícil mantenerse al día. Dado que Armando ha estado comiendo tan bien por vía oral, se le quitó por completo las alimentaciones por sonda después de que el médico tomara un recuento de calorías en el transcurso de varios días. Los tubos todavía están en su lugar y tendrán que permanecer durante al menos un par de semanas, pero veremos qué dice el médico cuando vaya a su cita en ese momento. Todavía tiene que comer alimentos muy blandos como antes, ¡pero tiene un apetito abundante!

¡Ahora para las noticias más importantes! ¡Armando fue dado de alta del hospital el lunes por la noche! ¡Estaba tan emocionado de poder volver a casa que pensé que en cualquier momento se levantaría y saldría CORRIEND de ese hospital! Ya que apenas puede caminar todavía, eso no habría sido factible. Pero ahora está en casa. Debido a los retrasos con el seguro, no podrá ir a rehabilitación a partir de ahora, pero ambos estamos de acuerdo en este momento en que las visitas de rehabilitación ambulatorias se adaptarán mejor a sus necesidades cuando finalmente se nos apruebe.

No puedo decirte cuántas veces nos dijeron lo notablemente rápido que se ha recuperado, siendo capaz de hacer cosas que la mayoría de los pacientes con accidente cerebrovascular tardan de 6 a 12 meses en poder hacer. ¡Qué testimonio de la gracia y misericordia de Dios y un testimonio de que realmente Jesucristo es el mismo ayer y hoy y para siempre y que Él es un Dios que responde a la oración! ¡Estamos muy agradecidos por todas sus oraciones!

Ahora que Armando está en casa, darse cuenta de la magnitud de lo que le ha sucedido y adaptarse es la parte más desafiante de este capítulo. La oración continua sería muy apreciada, más específicamente para Armando.
